Women’s T&F welcomes indoor invite


NEW YORK, NY- Megan Gasnick won the 400 meters and helped the 4×400 meters relay to another strong showing as the TCNJ women’s track and field team hosted the Lions Indoor Invitational on Saturday at The Armory.

Gasnick edged an Academy of Art sprinter by about half a second with a career-best time of 57.31. Amanda Demko also advanced to the final run, placing fourth at 1:00.18.

The Lions also posted a pair of winning places in the 60-meter hurdles. Eliza Bruncaj finished third in 9.44 seconds, while Kaela Edwards took fifth place with a career-best 9.54; the rookie had clocked a 9.57 PR while in the preliminaries.

Alli Uhl surpassed his previous PR by more than 2.50 seconds in the 500m, where his time of 1:17.31 was good for fifth place overall. Teammate Erin Hanlon finished in 1:22.65 (11and overall) in his early college days.

Maria Grill unlocked a new PR in the 200m dash (26.25) and was the top finisher for TCNJ in the 60m dash at 8.12. Ashlyn McLure was just off his PR with an 8.24 and Liz Lam crossed the line in 8.34.

Salini Iyer finished sixth in the mile (5:23.40), where Kelsey Kobus completed the top 10 at 5:32.83.

Zoe Iovino finished fourth in the triple jump (33-1.75), while Kayley Harnet achieved a new personal best in the high jump, tied for fourth with a clearance of 5-1.125.

Nicole Lester placed fifth in the pole vault, clearing 10 feet on the nose.

Edith Gonzalez finished sixth in the shot put (35-0.50) and Kerri McCarthy was 10 years oldand (29-4.50).

John Walter was eighth in the shot put (40-0.00), and Emilie Diszler records a new PR (35-10.75).

Gasnick, Demko, Uhl and Grill teamed up to take second place in the 4×400-meter relay to close out the competition, finishing the race in 3:56.81 to cut NJAC’s best time by nearly six seconds.

The Lions will be back next Saturday at Alvernia.
