The Black Fairy Godmother Foundation presents its 3rd Annual Purple Diamond Awards, Saturday, November 5, 2022, 6 p.m., Newark, NJ Museum of Art

Black tie event at the Newark Museum of Art in New Jersey to feature special musical guests Kenny Lattimore and Jeff Redd as well as to recognize community leaders.

NEWARK, NJ, USA, September 12, 2022 / — The Black Fairy Godmother Foundation, a 501-3c nonprofit organization, will hold its third annual Purple Diamond Awards at the Newark Museum of Art, 49 Washington Street, Newark, New Jersey on Saturday, November 5, 2022 at 6 p.m. On this special evening, the organization will honor those who have worked tirelessly to help bring support to communities of color and marginalized areas who have fallen through the cracks and need help beyond the existing sources.

“As the founder of the Black Fairy Godmother Foundation, I am committed to helping those going through difficult times and finding new success,” said Simone Gordon, CEO of the Black Fairy Godmother. “Over the past year, we have helped hundreds of families survive the COVID years. Today, there are hundreds, if not thousands, more people who need help. Without our support , they risk losing their homes, healthcare and dignity. To help find a new foundation for growth, development and success, that’s why I present our annual fundraiser, the Purple Diamond Awards.”

Musical guests – Kenny Lattimore and Jeff Redd – will bring their gratitude for recognizing the well-deserved honorees. Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Kenny Lattimore has been hailed by The New York Times as a “modern soul man” thanks to hits such as “For You.” Jeff Redd brings back the 90s and the classic sounds of New Jack Swing with hits like “You Called and Told Me.”

Culture of Resistance Award – Growing 4 Ward Organization (Carlos Walton)
Honoree In Memoriam: Living Our Values ​​Award from the late Mary E. Patterson (former Essex/Orange County Councilor, 5th Ward)

“I know first-hand what it’s like to help a young, single woman who has a disabled child and has limited means,” said Gordon, who recently completed a university degree in nursing. “I don’t want women who experience domestic violence or difficult times to be alone. The Black Fairy Godmother Foundation works to ensure that together we can survive, thrive, and move forward with hope. I graduated like many other women will do it in our program because hope has translated into action.”
