The hype surrounding ‘Danny Dimes’ is real, of course.
New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones was the NFL’s top-selling jersey just hours after the rookie was announced as the starting quarterback.
Jersey sales for the No. 6 overall pick jumped more than 500% on Tuesday, according to Fanatics, the sportswear store that stocks the official fan store for the NFL and Giants.
News of the change came Tuesday morning, when head coach Pat Shurmur announced the team would bench franchise icon Eli Manning in favor of the rookie after an 0-2 start to the season for Big. Blue. Throughout the day, Jones’ jersey reigned supreme in NFL jersey sales.
Manning still remains the Fanatics’ best-selling Giants jersey of all time, but Tuesday signaled that fans — and the organization — are looking to the future.
Jones will make his first career start against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday.
