Following the announcement that ESPN Films and Netflix will be releasing a 10-hour documentary on Michael Jordan and his glory days with the Chicago Bulls titled “The Last Dance” in 2019. Nike will be celebrating the film and MJ’s 20th anniversary “Last Shot “” against the Utah Jazz in the 1998 NBA Finals with Bulls commemorative jerseys.
The jersey, which will be released on May 31, comes in three versions: an Authentic on the outside (as worn for the last shot) as well as Swingman versions of the Bulls’ home and away looks. Each jersey is equipped with NikeConnect technology, which will unlock access to a selection of “The Last Dance” content before the series premiere in 2019.
The Authentic will ship in a soft-touch box with a clear window and magnetic closure and will cost US $ 400. Both Swingman jerseys will sell for US $ 120.
“The Last Dance” will tell about one of the greatest icons and most successful dynasties in sports history, Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls of the 1990s, with never-before-seen footage from the team’s last championship at the 1997-98 season and interviews with Jordan, other key figures of the Bulls’ championship teams and basketball luminaries and beyond.
The special edition Bulls jersey also celebrates Friends of the Children, a national nonprofit that selects the most vulnerable children between the ages of 4 and 6 from the poorest schools and the foster care system and matches them with a salaried professional mentor who stays with them from kindergarten until graduation.
Nike’s celebration will also include the return of the Air Jordan 14 âLast Shotâ which will be released in June.
UPDATE: Originally scheduled for May 31, Nike has just announced that the Authentic version of the Jordan Icon Edition jersey will launch on Friday June 1. The retail price is set at US $ 400.
